PhD position in Psychology

The Department of Psychology is accepting applications for a temporary four-year PhD position linked to the Speech, Cognition and Language (SCaLa) research group.
This position shall provide a promising research recruit the opportunity for professional development through studies towards a Ph.D. The position is connected to the PhD-program at the Faculty of Social Science and Technology Management. This is a full-time position with a required 25% workload to support the department’s academic activities.
The SCaLa research group comprises of three senior researchers and four PhD researchers with backgrounds in cognitive, developmental, and social psychology, who investigate the interplay of speech, language and cognition. SCaLa is focused on the study of speech and language production, perception, processing, representation and development. The group has grown out of two overlapping entities: the Marie Curie International Training Network on Language, Cognition and Gender and the Speech Laboratory.

The PhD project will be on language and cognition, preferably with a developmental perspective. As a first step, an experimental study will be conducted together with research collaborators in Switzerland to investigate the interplay between grammar and stereotype in gender representation of role names in pre-school children. With this starting point, within the first six months of employment, a full project description will be elaborated in close cooperation with the SCaLa research group.
