Job description
Trauma and trauma related injuries are frequent in car crashes and traffic accidents. In order to improve short and long-term medical outcomes for these victims the project group will develop and evaluate various means to improve clinical decision and process support on scene as well as during transport and dispatch. The systems and solutions will also promote dialogue and information exchange between all stakeholders involved.
As the successful applicant you will work in a team devoted to developing systems and solutions that can be fitted into ambulances and cars for supporting the above aims. Your role is to work with researchers, medical personnel and industrial partners in order to realize and evaluate agreed systems and solutions. An example is a system to detect possible internal bleedings after a traffic accident. Thanks to an earlier diagnosis already in the car or in the ambulance, this system will allow for a more rapid start of relevant treatment and tailored care processes. The sensors for the system are provided by other contributors to the project including industrial partners. Output from this system, as well as other decision support tools, existing or developed within the project should also be integrated with existing mobile communication systems, and decision support systems, for transmitting information between the ambulance and the hospital or other relevant stakeholders. This part of the system is provided by one of the industrial partners in the project. Your role will be to act as the system integrator, coordinating the contacts between the sensor researchers, medical personnel and industrial partners.
Required qualifications
The applicant must have a doctoral degree (preferably not longer than 5 years back) within the relevant field of specialization, such as systems engineering / systems integration, sensor systems, signal processing, decision support or interaction design. Previous experience from the application area of ICT-based system solutions, preferably with an element of mobile data, within health-care or medical engineering, is an advantage. The applicant should have teaching experience and interest. The language is typically English for PhD and Master level courses and Swedish at the Bachelor levels. In addition to proficiency in the teaching situation, very good communication skills are required since the topic involves frequent contact with many different actors, functions and levels, for example emergency rescue units and health care. Typically this is done in Swedish. Very good knowledge of both Swedish and English is therefore a requirement. Experience after the PhD degree in form of postdoctoral positions or qualified research and development in industry or health care is a merit.
