Professional Doctorate in BioProduct Design (TUDelft - NETHERLANDS)


Job description

Are you interested in the industry? Then this is the place to kick-start your industrial career! In the two year Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) traineeship in Bio Product Design you learn to translate your academic knowledge in Life Sciences to real-life applications. The industry is always looking for new products and technologies and this Professional Doctorate supports you to become a bioproduct designer and meet this demand of the industry. In an informal, cooperative learning environment you prepare yourself to work as a visionary team-player with a state-of-the-art background in biosciences and innovative bioproduct design. 


The two year traineeship starts with a tailor-made programme of advanced coursework in the Life Sciences, design methodology, project management, intellectual property and economics. Subsequently, you implement and apply your knowledge in two design projects, developing creative solutions for actual industrial problems, under expert supervision and guidance.

After successful completion of your training, you receive the ‘Professional Doctorate in Engineering’ degree. You have then developed and applied:
· your expertise in a variety of life science disciplines
· a systematic, quantitative design methodology
· a focus on innovative applications
· a creative approach
· conceptual design skills
· an independent, critical attitude
· teamwork and problem solving skills

Requirements

Do you want to prepare yourself for an industrial career? To join the BioProduct Design traineeship, we expect:
· Master degree with excellent results (top 10%) in Life Science & Technology, Biotechnology or Biochemical Engineering. Other educational backgrounds that combine Life Sciences and Engineering are also welcome to apply.
· 0-3 years working experience
· Open, creative mind and a critical attitude.
· Excellent command of English
· You enjoy working and studying in an international team.
· Your ambition is to solve innovative design problems.
· Your goal is a career in industry.

Conditions of employment

You will be employed by Delft University of Technology (‘Earning while Learning’). PDEng positions start in February and September and have an employment basis of 2 years (1 year with an extension of 1 year). A training and supervision plan forms part of the terms of employment.
