At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Electronic Systems a position as Associate Professor in Information Theory and Signal Processing is open for appointment from 01.03.2010 or soon hereafter.
Department of Electronic Systems has a staff of app. 240 employees. About 100 PhD students are enrolled in the Doctoral School affiliated to the department. The department's research area covers a wide spectrum within electrical engineering and is reflected in nine sections:

The annual turnover of external funding within ES is approximately 9 mio. Euro stemming from both EU- and national funding as well as extensive industrial collaboration.

Job description |
The position will be in the Section for Multimedia Information and Signal Processing (MISP). Within MISP a variety of research activities are set up ranging from fundamental/theoretical works over application driven algorithm design and implementation to end user testing. With the position MISP wants to strengthen research in
• Multiple Description Coding
• Distributed Source Coding
• Rate Distortion Theory
• Audio and Image/Video Coding
• Vector Quantization
• Estimation Theory
• Convex Optimization Theory
• Filtering and Noise Shaping
• Quantized Control
Teaching will primarily be in the area of ICT, but also in other study programmes at the University.
The position is conditioned on partly co-financing from external collaborative research projects, in which the applicant is expected to participate in/lead.

Qualification requirements:
The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level.
The application must contain the following:

• Scientific qualifications. A complete list of publications must be
