Job description |
The position is based at the Section for Sustainable Biotechnology at Aalborg University, Copenhagen, University Campus Ballerup. Part of the work will be done at Washington State University in Richland so it is essential that the potential candidate be mobile.
The position is linked to a large project : "Development of a biorefinery concept for integrated production of biomedicals, biochemicals, feed and fuels from selected plant materials (BIOREF)" funded by The Danish Council for Strategic Research for a new project. The project has several innovative ideas for Biological Production where the potential for an integrated production of new bio-products out of biomass materials will be examined. These biomass materials include garden refuge, biomass from recreational areas andcrops such as Alfalfa (Lucerne). As the production of biofuels and biochemicals will be almost CO2 neutral, the project will work towards replacing fuels and chemicals produced from fossil sources with a sustainable energy production. The project is a collaboration between Aalborg University Copenhagen, University of Copenhagen, Washington State University and 3 private companies.
Research Area: Structural changes in biomass material during pretreatment and biochemical conversion for production of biofuels and biochemicals The candidate will be responsible for elucidation structural changes of biomass for evaluating the most optimal and cost-effective way of production. The work will be done in a close collaboration with other researchers within the Project and will further take advantages of the Projects close link to Washington State University and the world-class analytical facilities found in the BSEL building (http://www.tricity.wsu.edu/cbb/).
