Vacant academic positions : Postdoc in Bioinformatics (AAU -Denmark)

University: Aalborg University (AAU) - Denmark At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering a position as postdoc in Bioinformatics is open for appointment from 01.03.2011 or soon thereafter. The position is available for a period of 1.5 years. The Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering consists of five sections. The Sections of Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Environmental Engineering are situated in Aalborg, the Section of Sustainable Biotechnology in Ballerup, and the Section of Chemical Engineering in Esbjerg. Job description The successful applicant will investigate the transcriptome of medical infections. Special focus will be on infections deriving from infected prosthesis and will be conducted in collaborations with Aalborg Hospital. Qualification requirements: The successful candidate should have a PhD or similar scientific qualification in a field relevant to the position. Furthermore the applicant must have experience with methods associated with high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics analysis of metagenomics and metatranscriptomics data. Relevant experience with microbiology of complex microbial systems and a demonstrated ability to contribute to coordinating the scientific progress of the project will also be a benefit. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
