The Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering consists of five sections. The Sections of Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Environmental Engineering are situated in Aalborg, the Section of Sustainable Biotechnology in Ballerup, and the Section of Chemical Engineering in Esbjerg.
The successful applicant will investigate the molecular microbial ecology of wastewater treatment systems. Special focus will be on enhanced biological phosphorus removal in activated sludge systems and processes in membrane bioreactor systems.

Limited teaching within the area can be expected, but also in other study programmes at the University.
The successful candidate should have a PhD or similar scientific qualification in a field relevant to the position. Furthermore the applicant must have experience with methods associated with molecular microbial ecology, particularly the use of FISH, PCR and DNA sequence analysis including microbial phylogeny. Relevant experience with microbiology of wastewater treatment systems and a demonstrated ability to contribute to coordinating the scientific progress of the project and supervising students will also be a benefit.
The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
