At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology a position as Professor in Neural Engineering is open for appointment from September 1st, 2011 or soon hereafter.
The Department of Health Science and Technology carries out multidisciplinary research and teaching in the area of health science and technology. The department has more than 150 scientific employees and has the main responsibility for more than 700 phd, candidate and master students within Biomedical Engineering, Health Informatics, Medicine, Medicine with Industrial Specialization, Clinical Science and Technology, and Sports Science. More than 65 phd-students are enrolled in the doctoral school affiliated to the department. |

Job description |
The position requires research qualifications at Doctor level and should further strengthen the department’s strong position within Neural Engineering and Neurophysiology of Movements, see www.hst.aau.dk.
The research groups at the department are at very high international level within fields as neural and rehabilitation engineering, and translational pain research.
The position will contain teaching duties including supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching will be primarily within the mentioned fields, but can also be in other study programmes at the University.

Qualification requirements:
Applicants with a background in biomedical engineering or neurophysiology or an adjacent science will be preferred. The position requires research qualifications at advanced Doctorate level within one of the mentioned research areas.
The successful applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

• Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organisations and the like.

Agreement |
| Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given. |
