At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technolgy a position as Professor in Urban Design is open for appointment from the 1st of May 2011 or soon hereafter.
The Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology concentrate on the development of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research which integreate creativity, engineering and technolgy within the disciplines of architecture, urban design, industrial design, digital design and interactive media. The department is a leading research and educational environment in Denmark that addresses the challenge of the interplay between creativity and technolgy, and develops new areas in research and education directed towards the end-user. |

Job description |
The position requires research qualifications at Doctor level within Urban Design.
The professorship will have a focus on urban transformation in the post-industrial city. The professor needs to emphasis on significant research contributions in relation to urban transformation strategies and design solutions. In addition the position needs to emphasise on practice-related development of methods in urban design - including design based concept development as a basis for design proposals.
The applicant has to be qualified in two areas:
Research with a focus on:
• Strategies and design solutions in urban transformation and development;
• Instruments and methods in relation to urban architecture and spatial design;
• The combination of research based and design based methods in concept development and in programming.
Leadership and coordination of:
• strategic urban design research including Integrated Urban Design, Sustainable social Development, and Urban Architecture and Spatial design.
• the development of Urban Design education and coordination of the build up of new educations in relation to Architecture, Design and Media Technology.
The following professional and personal qualifications are emphasised:
• Documentation of a high quality of original scientific publications at an international level.
• Documented qualifications in research in relation to the aforementioned research fields
• Documented teaching qualifications.
• Experience in research management.
• Fluent English (this criterion could only be taken into account as regards the assessment of written material, including the application itself, as well as evidence of books and journal papers in English language).
• The professorship must show initiative and have good cooperative and managerial skills.
Teaching will primarily be in Architecture and Design, Art and Technology , but also in other study programmes at the University.

Qualification requirements: The successful applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

• Education (copies of documentation for degrees obtained).

• Teaching qualifications described in the teaching portfolio. If this is not enclosed the applicant must include an explanation for its absence.
• Dissemination qualifications, including participation on committees or boards, participation in organizations and the like.
• Additional qualifications in relation to the position.

Agreement |
| Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given. |
