“The next generation control centre for Smart Grids”
2 PhD Research Fellowship and 3 PostDoc positions are offered within the area of SmartGrid at Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering (IME), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The SmartGrid is envisioned as the future intelligent electricity delivery, production and consumption management system. It shall enable a more efficient house-holding with energy, reduce the consumption and allow a large variety of new and greener means of production. This pose a wide range of demanding research challenges involving power engineering, ICT and cybernetics. At NTNU a National Centre for Smart Grid research (www.smartgrids.no) has been established in close co-operation with industries, public bodies and other actors. To further increase our research in this area, we would like to recruit 2 PhD fellows and 3 PostDocs for the project Next generation control centre for Smart Grids. This project is collaboration between the Department of Computer and Information Science, the
Department of Electric Power Engineering and the Department of Telematics. The project will focus on two main areas: • The utilization of the increasing amount of available data in order to detect, avoid and manage network failures, and • The management structure for operation and maintenance in smart power grids.
A total of 2 PhD students and 3 Post Doc positions are available within the following areas:
A. Control centre task and work process scenarios One PostDoc fellowship at Dept. of Electric Power Engineering Contact: Professor Kjell Sand; kjell.sand@ntnu.no
B. Management Platform Specification and prototyping One PhD fellowship at Dept. of Telematics Contact: Professor Finn Arve Aagesen; finn.arve.aagesen@item.ntnu.no
C. Operation and management methods One PhD fellowship at Dept. of Telematics Contact: Associate Professor Poul E. Heegaard; poul.heegaard@item.ntnu.no
D. Decision making algorithms One PostDoc fellowship at Dept. of Computer and Information Science Contact: Associate Professor Pinar Ozturk; pinar@idi.ntnu.no
E. Data abstraction methods One PostDoc fellowship at Dept. of Computer and Information Science Contact: Professor Helge Langseth; helge.langseth@idi.ntnu.no
