PhD Scholarship in Speech Processing and Biometric (Switzerland)

The starting date is immediate with competitive salary. The research is part of a new project “Embedding Quality and Reliability in Multimodal, Multi-classifier Biometric Recognition Systems” funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation for a maximum of four years.

The research work aims at extending the existing state-of-the-art multimodal biometric identity verification and identification methods to incorporate quality and reliability measures. Addressing the issue of data quality is vital for automated multimodal biometric authentication systems that operate on biometric data, usually affected by external conditions and user behaviour.

The candidates, with a university degree, are expected to have good knowledge of statistical signal processing and pattern recognition, particularly in the domain of biometrics, and have a sound experience in programming. A working knowledge of English is required.

Interested candidates are invited to send a CV (including contact information of two references), grades of all university classes and a one page statement of their background, motivation and interests in research as soon as possible to: Dr. Andrzej Drygajlo, EPFL-STI-IEL-LIDIAP, ELD 230, Station 11, CH-1015 Lausanne, Switzerland, e-mail: andrzej.drygajlo@epfl.ch.
