PhD student Positions in Wood Products Engineering

The topic includes research in a virtual wood-value-chain to develop integrated wood industry processes. Our goal is to develop a Real-Virtual-Reality concept that is working in the industrial context, based on real multi-dimensional data.   Based on the expertise in the fields of, wood-metrics, multi-dimensional process modeling / simulation and visualization of industrial processes, the following tasks is performed:   Modeling and Simulations Models created from image-based measurement information in real-time perspectives gathered from research and industrial applications.   Optimization of Virtual Environments Develop models for serious gaming, industrial systems and R & D applications for wood industrial processes

PhD Student Position 1

Will be working in a project which aims to develop:
  • Measurement technology for the wood industry
  • Current models to include end-user products and functional needs.
  • CAE tools in a virtual wood value chain
PhD Student Position 2  
Development of tools for product and process development based on:
  • Modeling and Simulations based on multi-dimensional measurement information with real-time perspectives gathered from research and industrial applications.
  • Optimization of Virtual Environments. In collaboration with other research areas develop serious gaming, industrial systems and R & D applications for wood industrial processes.
Qualifications
We seek candidates with an MSc/civ.ing. Degree in Wood technology, Engineering Physics or Engineering Mechanics. Moreover, it is important that you can work well in groups and express yourself well in written English.   Experience in the wood industry, virtual visualization of actual events and industrial image processing is an advantage.   We strive to have a gender balance in our group.
