POSTDOC IN SIGNAL PROCESSING WITH APPLICATION TO TRAFFIC SAFETY

Job description
In order to enable new active safety applications, that can mitigate or avoid collisions in more complicated scenarios, today’s cars are equipped with more and more sensors. The problem of using these sensors in an optimal way is a fairly immature area that deserves much more attention. You will be involved in a theoretical study and design of a sensor fusion system using several sensors, including radar, camera, GPS, map and vehicle-to-vehicle communication. The work will include the design of filtering algorithms, characterization of sensors, and evaluation of different communication schemes in order to find out what kind of information that we can and should communicate. Thanks to related projects you will have easy access to relevant data that you should use to ensure that your algorithms work in practice. The research will be carried out in connection with other researchers, both from academia and from industry.
Required qualifications
You have a recent Ph.D. degree related to signal processing, mechatronics or statistics. You have a good theoretical background and an interest to work on real-world problems. Experience of traffic safety, filtering and positioning is an advantage. Furthermore, an interest in interdisciplinary work with researchers and engineers from other fields is essential, as are skills in simulation techniques and mathematical analysis. You should have excellent command of spoken and written English and have good collaborative skills. Teaching experience is an advantage.
About the Postdoc positionThe Postdoc position is an appointment that offers an opportunity to qualify for further research positions within academia or industry. The appointment is for 1+1 years of full-time employment, with a monthly salary paid. Most of your working time is devoted to your own research. Included in your work is also to take part in supervision of Ph.D. students and M.Sc thesis students. Teaching of undergraduate students may also be included to a small extent. You will attend international conferences and meetings, where you will present your own work and establish useful contacts with other researchers. The position can commence immediately
